On Saturday, December 19, 2009, 8wire LAN will be hosting a Launch Party for the new sequel in the Monster Hunter franchise by Capcom, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. MHFU is an action-RPG with up to four player co-op capability, and is the expansion set for Monster Hunter Freedom 2. The player takes control of a Hunter in order to complete a wide variety of Quests. The game itself offers hundreds of quests in addition to thousands of weapons and armor for huge assortment of customizability.
Sony has sent 2 PS3s and 2 PSPs for players to try Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. One of the PSPs will be given away at the end of the promotion.
In addition to the Launch Party, 8wire LAN will hold a 2 week showcase with daily challenges from December 19, 2009, to January 1, 2010. All participants in the Daily Challenges will be given a free hour per day to try to complete each trial. Upon completion of the Daily Challenge, players will receive one non-energy drink or concession item. Players will receive a rattle ticket for attempting the daily challenge which will be entered in a drawing to win a PSP with a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. An additional ticket will be rewarded if the player completes the daily challenge.

A True Foe - The Giadrome!
Goal Condition: Hunt the Giadrome
Time: 50 Minutes
Fee (ingame): 100z
Reward (ingame): 1200z
Quest Details: Within a group of the sly carnivorous Giaprey, there is a leader. They Call it the Giadrome. I need a hunter's strength to show that pack of beasts and their leader who's boss!
Notes/Tips: The Giadrome is the pack leader, is identifiable by the blue crest, and travels between areas 6, 7, and 8. Flash Bombs and Shock Traps stun it in place so players can deal massive damage.

Reckless Bulldrome Hunter
Goal Condition: Hunt the Bulldrome
Time: 50 Minutes

Quest Details: My son decides to become a hunter and run off after a Bulldrome on his own! Of course, now the tables have turned and I'm worried! Hunt down the Bulldrome on the snowy mountains!
Notes/Tips: The Bulldrome is large brown bul that hangs out in areas 6, 7, 8. Dodge his charge, and attack him only from the rear.

Goal Condition: Slay 15 Blangos
Time: 50 Minutes

Reward: 900z
Quest Details: A large pack of Blangos are massing nearby. They are violent enough that a large group will quickly become uncontrollable. Please slay 15 of the apes!
Notes/Tips: try to attract the attention of only one Blango at a time.

Mountain Herb Picking
Goal Condition: Deliver 20 Mountain Herbs

Quest Details: I want to pick some of the village's famous Mountain Herbs for my brother in town, but there's are too many monsters! Could you please go out for me and bring back 20 Mountain Herbs?
Notes/Tips: Mountain Herbs look like plants on the ground and must be gathered using the "O" button while weapon is put away. You can find them in areas 5, 6, 7.

Quest Details: I took a trip to the jungle and saw some beautiful pink animals with fangs. But when I tried to pet them from my carriage, the beasts made a stink on me! I can't get it off! Punish those meanies!
Notes/Tips: Kill Congas. Simply put.

A Mushroom Goldrush
Goal Condition: Deliver 20 Special Mushrooms
Time: 50 Minutes
Fee: 100z
Reward: 900z
Quest Details: Mushrooms from the jungle are skyrocketing in price! If you were to gather 20 of them for me, you would be justly compensated. However, I hear the area is infected with carnivores, so beware!
Notes/Tips: Search in mushrooms patches and kill the mossvines to collect the mushrooms. You can find them in areas 1, 5, 6, and 9.

The Giant Enemy Crab
Goal Condition: Hunt the Daimyo Hermitaur
Time: 50 Minutes
Fee: 180z
Reward: 2100z
Quest Details: A gaint crab is wandering around the desert! However, no normal sword is capable of cracking its shell! I hate to ask for help from other hunters, but please lend me your skills!
Notes/Tips: The Daimyo Hermitaur spawns in area 5. Hit it with a paintball to track it. Attack its legs to trip it, and go for it weak point when it falls over. Sonic Bomb is effective when it covers itself with its claws. When it's nearly dead, you will see blood in its mouth.

The Lady Gourmet
Goal Condition: Deliver 8 Piscine Livers
Time: 50 Minutes
Fee: 100z
Reward: 900z
Quest Details: I travel the world for new tastes and flavors. Now I want to try the liver of a Piscine Wyvern, a taste few others have experienced. Please bring me 8 of these livers!
Notes/Tips: Acquire livers by gathering from dead cephalos that swim around under the sand. You can get them to come up attacking their fins, using sonic bombs, or using small barrel bombs.
Although the daily challenges can be completed once a day on their respective days, 8Wire Lan will be providing additional challenges to promote MHFU. The challenges will be more challenging and is recommended that players bring a their own psp along with a group of friends to make the experinence more exciting for everybody.
On January 2, 8Wire Lan will be hosting a special adhoc party. During the event 8Wire Lan will be paired with one other Lan center, where players will able to play together with up to 4 players. During the event pizza and drinks will be served to all Monster Hunters! Player challenges will be organized during the event based on skill level and comfortablitity.
